There was Captain Niranjan Singh who lived in the cantonment and who developed a great love and respect for Shri Nathji. He was a very spiritually inclined soul, and it was perhaps for his sake that Shri Nathji had come to live in the Palace.
At first his previous spiritual training would not let him fully understand Shri Nathji. Even though he had absolute devotion for Shri Nathji he could not understand him as God. He and his family, which consisted of his wife, two sons and a daughter all became greatly attached to Shri Nathji and would visit him daily for his darshan and blessings. His sons, Ram Prasad and Sri Krishna developed a special devotion in Mateshwari.
Gangabai Bhatt visited Shri Nathji during those days and was delighted to see him living in a palace, which had become truly royal after Shri Nathji’s entry.
She met Captain Niranjan Singh and left a golden formula with him in the following words:

“Shri Nathji ko Bhagwan maante jaao
Koyi maane yaa naa mane, maante jaao,
Tumhaaraa dil bhee maane yaa na mane, maante jaao,
Vo bhi maanen yaa na maanen, maante jaao
Kyonki vohee Bhagwan hain

Go on believing in Shri Nathji as God,
Others may or may not believe, but go on believing,
Your heart may or may not believe, but go on believing,
Even He may or may not believe, but go on believing,
Because He alone is God!”
