There was Shri Chaman Lal Magoo. He was a Station Master in the railways. He was a relative of Mrs. Chopra, and had met Shri Nathji at Chopra’s house. The moment he had come before Shri Nathji, a new light of faith had entered into him and he had delivered his heart and soul to Shri Nathji. Over a period of time he had become the staunchest of Shri Nathji’s devotees at Allahabad. The man was powerfully built and was very agile and strong.
His marriage had been a very unhappy one because he had no child. He had been very ruthless in his behaviour towards his wife in the days past. But no sooner had he and his wife come before Shri Nathji than a new bond of love developed between them. Not only did he cease to beat his wife, but he began to love her so much that he could not bear to live without her.
For years he had hated his wife for not bearing him a child, but now it seemed to him that the childlessness had led to a greater bond of love between them. This was the greatest miracle that had occurred in his life ever since he had come to Shri Nathji.
His wife’s name was Swarna. She had as great a faith as her husband in Shri Nathji and Mateshwari. She would be seen frequently acting as a companion to Mateshwari at Allahabad. She had a little niece, a girl of ten, who always accompanied her to Shri Nathji’s darbaar. Mateshwari had grown very fond of this little girl, whose name was Bholi, and would be seen going out for long walks with her. They were poor people, but Mateshwari preferred their poverty to the luxury of Chopra and his family.
