The manner in which Lord Rama gave Kewat an opportunity to serve him, defined Shri Nathji’s interactions with the humanity around him.
Shri Nathji had come to give something to everyone in the world, and for that he had to give them an opportunity to serve him in any way they could.
The reward they got for this service was beyond expectations.
Shri Nathji would frequently say:
People yearn for government jobs, and private jobs, and jobs in high positions. How fortunate is the man who has been given an opportunity to serve God! Surely every service carries a salary and the service of God must carry a salary to match its worth:
“Jisko sewaa milee usko swami milaa.”
“He who is granted service obtains a Master.”
Shri Nathji would say:
Aap vriksh ko jal den vo phal detaa hai.
Aap gaaye ko ghaas den vo doodh deti hai.
Agar aap Bhagwan ki sewaa karenge to kyaa vo kuchh naheen degaa?
“If you give water to a tree it will reward you with fruit.
If you give grass to a cow it will reward you with milk.
If you serve God will He not give you anything?
“Manushya mazdoori deth hai
Kyon raakhe Bhagwan
When man pays for services rendered
Why will God not recompense!
Shri Nathji however also added:
“Sewaa kaa phal kyaa koyi maange.
Sewaa to khud lakhon janmon ke punyon kaa phal hai!
“What reward can one expect from divine service! The service is in itself a reward for the good actions of the ages!
Shri Nathji would often say:
“The reward of work is more work!”
This was Shri Nathji’s assurance to all who served him – namely that their service would never end and that it was a sacred service that had come after the fulfilment of ages of austerities.
