Shri Nathji made most of his purchases at Hamer and Co., where his credit was very good.
Shri Hari, the owner of Hamer’s, had always had a great reverence for Shri Nathji and had always offered him the use of his cinema hall, Rialto Theatre, for his lectures in the 1930’s.
Shri Hari would often say to Shri Nathji that Savitri Nivas was “gold” – “Ye to sonaa ha sonaa”, and that if ever Shri Nathji wanted money he could sell or mortgage the property. However, Shri Nathji never had reason to do so.
All the people of Mussoorie had great respect for Shri Nathji even if they interacted with him only on the worldly level, and were greatly concerned about the illness of Mateshwari. A bill of Hamer Co showed what Shri Nathji was purchasing at the time:
