Shri Roop Kishore, also known as Guruji, was a renowned artist of Mussoorie and had been making paintings ever since the 1930’s when he had an Art Gallery in Roxy Building at one end of Kulri Bazaar.
Those were the days in 1936 when Shri Nathji was at Mussoorie along with Shri Babaji Maharaj and the two were staying together at Dilaram Estate.
Shri Babaji Maharaj had asked Shri Roop Kishore to make a portrait of Shri Nathji. A cabinet sized photograph of 1936 taken at Lahore was given to Shri Roop Kishore and he made a large sized oil painting of the photograph.
The portrait that Roop Kishore made was so stunningly beautiful that everyone sought to purchase it. But Guruji would not sell it. He had become passionately fond of the portrait himself.
