While Shri Nathji was at Mussoorie he received very disconcerting news from Allahabad. The proprietor of Royal Hotel had broken open into Shri Nathji’s rooms and had removed all his belongings there, ostensibly in the presence of Sardar Harbhajan Singh Chopra. The reason he gave for this breaking in was that Shri Nathji had left the ceiling fans on inside the rooms and that he had to shut them off to save the building.
However, his earlier notice to vacate the rooms belied this excuse. He had taken advantage of Shri Nathji’s absence and taken possession of the rooms by force.
Shri Nathji was greatly shocked at this episode and wrote a strong letter to the proprietor, protesting against this breaking in. The letter was never sent and remained amongst the hundreds of papers at Mussoorie.
Shri Nathji was not one to take legal action against anyone and he resigned himself to finding another place at Allahabad when he went there.
