Mateshwari could not bear it any longer and cried out loudly to Shri Nathji one night:
“Nathji! Why don’t you stop them! They are about to take over the whole of India!”
That very night, Shri Nathji sat down in his bed and quietly began writing a letter to the Chairman of China, Mao Tse Tung:
“My Dear Mao Tse Tung, I appeal to you in the name of human conscience to stop this war at once, and to ask your armies to go back from India.”
Shri Nathji wrote only this first line, and left the unfinished letter on his chair next to his bed.
